Palatine Invite

When we play our game, we kick serious butt. When we dont, we lose every single time... that's just how our volleyball team is. Going into friday night to start the Palatine Invite, we knew we would have a challenge ahead of us if we were going to win.

Friday Night

Match 1, on the Main Court vs Prospet - for some reason we came out playing with zero sense of urgency. We looked like a team that didn't care and didn't want to be there. I'm not sure what we were thinking about, but it wasn't volleyball. We let a pretty good team beat us like we were a horrible team.... we lost in 2 games

Match 2, on the North Shelf vs Libertyville - We had beaten this team in 2 games this past monday. We came out a little more focused than vs Prospect, we looked like a good volleyball team. We made a lot less errors and made a lot of great plays.... we win in 2 games

Saturday

Match 1, on the main court vs Maine East - To qualify for the winners bracket and have a run for the championship we would need to beat this team, otherwise we would be then going for the Consolation at best. We came out strong with an early lead and looked like we were a lot more focused than our match vs Prospect the night before.... we win in 2 games

Match 2, on the south side of East Gym vs Stevenson (semi-finals) - We knew they'd be a tough opponent. We started off losing 1-5 or something like that, but then kicked back to playing our game and went on some sick runs. Emotions on the court and on the bench have never been greater and it was one of the best feelings to be able to be apart of it.... we rocked them in 2 games to move on to the finals! =D We would vs the winner of the Fremd/Prospect match going on at the same time as us.

Match 3, on the Main Court vs Prospect (the championship!) - I don't know what it was, but we didn't come out firing in the first game vs Prospect. We made things difficult for ourselves. After having high energy and emotions during the Stevenson match, idk... maybe we just used it all up, because we we're the same. We made the most errors our team has ever made in one game for the entire season. They ended up winning the first game 30-28 (extra points because you have to win by 2) 13 of their 30 points were because of our stupid errors, just imagine if we made like 2 less errors.... So game 2, we played a little better. We didn't make as many errors and started playing how we do when we win. Still those high emotions weren't there, but they were better. We went back and forth with them for awhile, but then pulled away when we started playing alot better winning the second game 25-18. Game 3, we came into the game telling the bench and the players on the court to just go buck-nasty. Why hold anything back, right? It was game 3 of the championship game. We started off really strong and playing REALLY well. Our bench was going insane and the players on the court were doing the same. We started with a lead and just kept on charging, I don't think we held anything back. We won the third game 25-12, give or take a few points for them. But point is, we killed them and won the Palatine Invite! =D
It's amazing how we can put teams away when we actually play how we're supposed to. It was the first time Palatine had won their invite in a LONG time...
